Knocking Noise
[:@]I am new to this forum. I have a 94 K1500 Full Size Blazer and I got up to go to work one morning and a I heard a knocking noise when I started the truck. When I would speed up to 20 the knocking noise would get faster and faster but after I get over 20 mph then the noise goes away but when I start to slow down again at a stop light or something the knocking noise will come back. Wanted to know if anyone else has had this problem or what I can do in order to get rid of this knocking noise. Thank you for your help

RE: Knocking Noise
Can you try to pin point where it is coming from?

RE: Knocking Noise
IT is coming from the engine. It sound like the left side or the left lower side. I checked all the fluids and notice that there was no power steering fluid in it. Could that cause the knocking?

RE: Knocking Noise
power steering would cause it to start whineing, sounds like possibly a Rod knocking, hopefully not

RE: Knocking Noise
Is there any other things that I could check or try just to make sure that it isnt a rod knocking?

RE: Knocking Noise
The last time I had a knocking coming from the engine duringthe samesituation I had brass in my oil filter from a connecting rod/ crankshaft spun bearing. Recomend carefully cutting open oil filter to check for metal.

RE: Knocking Noise
Even though it only makes the knocking noise while the blazer is idle or when its under 20 but above 20 it goes away would it still be the rod knocking?

RE: Knocking Noise
When I drove my blazer, yes the sound went away above 20. What would it hurt to cut open the filter and inspect the element. If there is any metal at least you could start the process of elimination.
