remember the prom controls fuel system, shift point and other setting for tranny

 

Im just not wanting to spend the money unless I can find something out and I would have to order a prom no local stores have them in stock

 

no real way to test except to change out. know anyone with a 88 to 96 tbi full size? then borrow theirs to take a short run with it installed

if it runs with the ecu in then change just the prom chip
if the problem goes away then you need a new prom

btw if you are going to mods like shift kit, bigger exhaust, etc
then
look at getting a jet prom to help with those mods
