Default Power/Speed Loss?

So. Here's a question, When I accelerate my truck goes and all, however when i push down on the pedal to get some extra umph, it seems that i dont gain more speed, all i do is smell more gas and hear my glass packs roar louder. Any ideas? My fuel filter is new but its also cheap i'm not gonna lie, thats my only thought is maybe its just a POS. and I need a more 'performance like' one?

It helps if we knew what vehicle this was... but I'm thinking transmission/kick down, right off the bat. If you hear the engine roar & hear the exhaust louder then I'd say it's getting the fuel but the power isnt getting to the wheels properly.

Add the info of the vehicle & see who comes along with other ideas

Yeah, I tried adjusting it a bit. Also the part where the spring clips onto is busted, so i have it hooked to the extra metal on a hose clamp, ha (dont judge me). I feel like its too hard to get to 3rd gear ya know? I hear/feel it go to 2nd though. I have a Rebuilt (or so previous owner said) 700r4 Transmission.
