Default speedo cable issues

Quick synopsis: Speedometer was jumping around. Pulled cable behind dash and oiled it. Speedometer no longer jumps around but stays at a close to steady 10-15 mph off. Figured on just replacing it, however...

What is this? It appears I have a 2 piece cable...? Cruise control maybe? Didn't even know the truck had it. Could this unit be cause the speedo read error?

Yes, it is amazing how inept I am when it comes to old technology.

Wow! Factory cruise. If that thing works, I wouldn't just throw it away.

Do you have the controls inside to operate it? Try it out but I have yet to see one that ever works

If it doesn't work, send it to me! All of it! I'd be interested in just seeing the setup.

Spent some time studying the thing last night. I still have the switch and everything is working (electrically). When I take it out this weekend, I'll see if it actually works.

It's really simple. There is a vacuum line in (you can see that) and then the diaphragm has a cable coming off of it and thats connected to the carb. It probably doesn't function too accurately, but it would get a smile on my face if it actually works.

They are on the left fender in front of the firewall. I finally threw mine away after being tired of looking a it for 3 months on my garage floor. Mine came with all kinds of cool factory stuff.
