Default U joint

Hey all! First post here but been around a lot of forums so I'm actively searching before I ask. Here's my problem, I have a 84 that I just replaced the rear u joint in. The old joint had a thin piece of metal tacked to each cap and ran across the width of the u joint. I installed the replacement and noticed the yoke did not have any tabs from the factory. I went down the road and caps slung out and driveshaft fell out. I gotta get this going by Monday so I can get to work. Any advice?

that little 2-3 inch long metal tab is just there from the factory to hold the ujoint caps together during the assembly line so none of the new ones ever come with that. the new u joint should have came with some kinda snap rings for either the bottom or top of the caps to hold it into the driveshaft and onto the yolk.

they will look like either of the two
