Default Winch

My K5 is lifted 6 inches with 35 inch mud tires on it. There is a custom bumper on the front with pre-drilled holes for a winch. What size winch should I buy?

The biggest one your can afford and that will fit with your bumper. K5's are on the heavy side and if stuck in the mud, it can really test a winch.

I wouldn't go anything less than a 10k. 8k can be done, but you'll want to have a ****** block with you and some straps to get to good mount points. If you typically wheel where mount points (trees, really large rocks, etc) are not close by, you might want to go with a 12k winch with a large spool.

id say 12000 also. i ran a 9000 warn on my 85 k5 with 38s. 80% of the time it worked but when you were really high centered or in some nasty crap it wouldnt budge me. buddy of mine i used to wheel with had a 12.000 milemarker and in a few of those incidences i couldnt move, he was able to pull me through. his winch was slower then heck though. but when your stuck a few extra minutes really doesnt hurt
