Default wiring help!!

so yesterday i figured i would look at the wiring a little. i saw some loose wires that i soldered together by the starter. it was 2 wires going from the alternator. i connected them into one cause thats all that was there. so i start it up to see if there was any difference and i could not shut the damn thing off. i even disconnected the battery and still nothing. i had to bog the engine out by flooring it which choked the engine but now i have no idea where to go besides cutting the wires back to the way they were.

does anybody have a full wiring diagram of a 74 k5 or know where to find one? i have the service manual but this is very vauge when it comes to wiring.

i figured this thing is 37 years old so the wiring shouldnt be that complicated but i guess not....

On of those wires goes to the distributer for the points . The older starter systems had 2 wires on the solinoid one was for the ignition switch to energize the starter and there was another wire that hooked to another stud on the solenoid . When you would energize the starter it would also turn on this other wire to the points to make them hotter and start better when you hooked the wire up direct you kept juice going to the ignition system .I would un hook those wires the other wire could be an after market something another

some one could have converted it from points to an updated distributor
