Default 2005 blazer fuel filter quick connector

Hello All

I have a 2005 blazer. The fuel filter threaded in on tank side and quick connect line on other side going to engine.

Cant figure out how o-rings and plastic spacer go inside quick connector. They came out when removing the filter. The spacer not shown in pics...

I think the tan o-ring goes in first followed by either the yellow o-ring or the plastic spacer. If spacer is second then Then the yellow o- ring is last????
Does anyone know how this packs? Thank you to all that reply.

Has anyone experience this before? If the orings and spacer have come out of the fiting, is the fiting now garbage? Thanks.

Are the o-rings the same size? I can't remember what I saw with mine the last time I replaced the fuel filter.

What you might do is try to find a replacement quick-release fitting at an auto parts store to compare. This is what I found at Dorman.
https://www.dormanproducts.com/p-227...tor&origin=YMM

I did find this exploded diagram that shows in o-ring (pn 26) used at the fuel filter but it is for the threaded end.

This specific one is an o-ring I don't think I knew existed! I'll have to look for it next time and replace the fuel filter.

However, I would expect the quick-release fitting to have an o-ring too.

Hope this helps.

Default Quick connect

Yes. The quick release has at least 2. A tan color and a yellow color. They look the same size but from another picture I found it looks like the tan o-ring goes in first and the yellow last. But The plastic spacer, almost clear color, is in the quick release I think. I cannot find any info or diagrams on this. I don't want to experiment and have to fish out the rings and rearrange them if a leak occurs. It may damage the o-rings which will increase the problem. Here is what I have to work with.

They must fit in quick connect in the next picture below. I'm not sure how far down to insert them.

This is the setup.....

Well i finally figured out the fuel filter/ quick release gremlin. The parts(o-rings and spacer) came out of the quick connect when I removed the old filter. I was able to get some info from a dorman Rep. He was kind enough to grab a new one and look at it. It definitely was tan o-ring first, plastic spacer and then yellow o-ring last. But he was unable to figure out how to insert them. There was also a tapered cap that clicks in to top of the quick release holding the other 3 pieces in place. Taking out this cap is also the only way to get the spacer in. I figured this by taking the advice of christine208 from this site and getting the identical quick connect. I got it from the scrap yard and took it apart. It was a tedious process using a few different picks and prying it off without destroying it. I was able to use the tapered cap from this donor quick connect since mind was missing. This explains my mine started to leak after some time. Im not sure how this piece disappeared from my quick connect and how it was able to seal properly before I changed the filter. With this top tapered cap out, it also made it easy to insert the o-rings using a wooden dowel that was just smaller than the quick connect opening. I dipped the 4 pieces in motor oil to allow them to slide in and seat flush against each other properly. This was suggested to me by a mechanic at GM. He also suggested to spray a little wd40 or silicon lubricant on the quick connect and move it back and forth a bit before trying to replace the filter next time. This will help unbind any sticking parts. It would have been easier I guess to purchase and install a new fuel line. But then I would not have learned all these great tips. I hope this helps someone who may experience this rare gemlin in the future. Thank you for your suggestions Christine208.

Congrats on getting it figured out!

I'm glad my suggestion might have helped.

And thanks for posting the followup that definitely could someone in the future.
