Default 2wd at the boat ramp: requesting help

Hello all.

I have a 2wd blazer. The only use I have for 4x4 is at the boat ramp. I really don't want to be "that guy" who gets stuck on the ramp.

Besides a full-on conversion, is there an alternative that can help me mimic 4x4 for this task only?

Some kind of slip differential or something (sorry I'm clueless)?

Thanks!

There are a few different choices of limited slips and automatic lockers available for the small 10 bolt our trucks have. You don't happen to have a G80, do you? That might do the job for ya.

Damn, cleburne beat me to it. If you have g80 (rear end locker system) You may not have any problems. Pop open your glovebox. Pull all your crap out lol and you'll see a sticker with a bunch of lil 3 character codes. Look for "G80". If its there you got it. it'll lock up both tires instead of one in a slipping situation. If not,You can always install a locker,or find a blazer rear end with g80 already and swap em out. (make sure its from a 2wd,and has the same gear ratio)

Gear ratios don't need to match for a 2wd chris.

+1 ^

but that way it would drive the same and same fuel mileage. but if you do happen to go looking into switch rear ends and stuff, it could be a prime opportunity to change the ratio to something more suitable.

in a way it does, since if you make a change it'll knock the speedo off. So ha! lol.

Its not a drastic change,i went to 3:42 from some 2:73s in a old truck and i was like 6 mph off.
