4WD shifter stuck
#1
I went out today for a little bit of wheelin and I found out my shifter to switch to 4wd and 2wd doesn't work it is stuck in 2wd only any advice? could it just be from being so old? or what? opinions and help please.

when was the last time you used it? i bought a plow truck for parts and from the looks of it it was always in 4wd, i had to go underneath and spray the shift rails with penetrating oil and basically kick the shifter forward and backwards till it freed up. also if you have the truck in park too sometimes it wont shift

its gotta be on N for it to engage or disengage

Yeah were you in Neutral when you were trying to shift? Also Mine takes some coaxing, I've got to shake it around while trying to shift.
Darnit Gio, I would have been before you but my pain in the patootie of a son distracted me for a couple seconds. lol

You can call me Kayla instead of CBC if you want.
I made the same mistake when I first got my truck.
Also I still haven't figured out if you do in fact have to Put it in reverse after putting it in 4wd in order to lock it in. I do it anyway lol.

never heard of putting it in reverse
I know some trucks you need to shut it off engage it in N then start it

My dad told me... so I dunno if its true or not lol.
Or it may have been that I needed to back up to lock in my AutoHubs...
I dunno... but it doesn't hurt to do it anyway lol

thats possible you might need to lock the auto hubs like that
I never owned a truck with auto hubs
Unless that new trailtruck i have (ford bronco) has them
I haven't picked it up yet
