This can be caused by air in the system. Make sure that the system is properly bled, I can give you guidance on the if you need it.

A plugged heater core or hose can be the cause of this. Take the hoses off of the core and flush it with MODERATE garden hose pressure in both directions then bleed the system again. Are both heater hoses the same temp?

Are you sure that you got it completely bled and there is no air at the top of the system. Mine always requires some extra effort to get right.

Try to get the front of the truck elevated like in a sloped driveway, increase rpm and consider some type of fill funnel arrangement that gets the fluid level above the cap. I use one of these:

Amazon Amazon

I see some cheaper knock offs as well.

If this does not solve your problem then we can go further with things like: belts, water pump, head gasket, dash gauge, wiring, ...

That funnel arrangement is designed to get the air in the system released so it 'burps itself'. Chris Fix in one of his radiator fill video's shows this type funnel in use and how it does its job. You attatch the funnel to the rad., fill it with coolant, and then run the engine for 15 min.s or so.
The thermostat should be open durnig this procedure. The engine's cooling system releases the air through the funnel. You will see the air bubbles in the funnel. The elevated funnel becomes the highest point in the cooling system...... Higher than the heater core. This allows all the air to be bled out of the system.
