97 Jimmy & 5,000 mi run....
My unit has 210k on it-I did not buy it new but it has been a flawless unit and runs very well. I have maintained & replaced quite a few parts as needed, all of which I have an inventory of. Now,I must be in the front range of CO for Thanksgiving. The wife wants to take the Jimmy,I want to take my Lincoln(gets better gas mileage) I have never had an issue with running a unit that I bought and maintained since new on a long run at 200k+,but I am wary of this-while my wife is wary of the Lincoln(94 w/ 65k) but only owned since March. My other units are not an option, really:My 66 Chevy C-10(owned since 1972) or my 1991 K2500 Suburban(bought new) The jimmy is sound and I would obviously go through it pre-trip-all major issues happened prior to my ownership, that is why I was able to steal it,but would rather drive my couch out there! The Jimmy is not a really comfortable unit after 500 miles at the wheel.Regardless..I know it will make it,I suppose I am just trying to find fault in my Lady's logic. What would you do given the options presented? Thanks for talking me into or out of this!

Well,as a former long-haul driver I am fully aware ANYTHING can happen. This is why I travel over equipped! But If we want to make this trip in 10 days I'll need nap time in the back of the Lincoln, and thats not going to happen in the Jimmy with any real results. I am already pointing out the obvious to her,but she doesn't seem to understand just how tiring pushing west across KS can be with wind issues! YI-YI-YI
