Default 99 blazer removing cat question

Hey guys, just bought a 99 blazer and there is some broken off honeycomb in my catalytic converter based on what ive read and am hearing (rattling at low rpm and stand still when in drive)

I am trying to remove the converter and gut it but I am having an issue removing the top bolts on each end of the converter. Where the converter connects to the downpipe and where it connects to the muffler. There are three bolts total on each connection but the bolt on the topside is difficult to reach. Anyone had trouble getting the converter off? If so, suggestions? or any ideas?
