Default anyone else????

hello, today when i was driving around town taking care of my errans. I was pulling out of a parking lot and stopped at a stop sign waiting for traffic to clear, now i live in vegas and temp was reading 105 and I was stuck at this stop sign for a good 4 minutes when i noticede my temprature needle was at the 210 marking right in the middle, now my normal reading is just under 210 hash at about the 190 hash or so and I have never noticed the temprature climb above 190 untill today? so with that in my mind I proceeded to my next destination the Nevada Bank. during the drive everything was reading normal at 190 so when I pull in to the bank parking lot I dont shut off the blazer I keep it in drive and just sit there with A/C running to test the temprature again. About 7-10 minutes pass and the temprature surpassed the 210 and was almost past the first hash mark after 210. So I turn the blazer off and spend 10 minutes in the bank. come back and temp is still above 210 but after I start driving its back to normal. So my stupid question is, do anyone else blazer do this? or is it sounding like my thermostat is going out? any advise would help out a ton thanks...............

That scenario isn't unusual. Living here in Texas, I know.

my educated guess would be that with the vehicle moving, more air flows through the radiator, allowing more heat to dissipate in more (cooler)air, whereas at a stand still your hot radiator is in still hot air making it harder for your engine to lose heat.
