HID isn't really a good idea for highbeams...

They hate being turned on and off repeatedly.

do you have any pictures of this(install and such)? Did you just do the bulbs and ballast in stock headlights? Or did you do it the right way with projectors and all?

I want to do this too but I dont really want to spend the money and the only way I will do it is if I do it right with the Projectors and all.

Projectors for HIDS?????? Never heard that before.... Anyway, no I didn't use projectors for my HID install because there's no need for them. I will take pics tonight if the weather clears up. My HID kit is a complete bolt on kit not a modified nissan or audi kit. The HID's I'm running are from Pilot and I love them. Very easy to install and their customer service is great as well. I do recommend the use for a relay kit tho because some s10's wire harrnesses aren't strong enough to support the power that is needed for the ballast. I have read many horror stories on other sites, so to avoid this just get the relay kit. Again installation was basic, no modifications needed, just plug and play. My brother has this kit in his Colorado for over 2yrs and doesnt have an issue and bunch of my friends as well. Next year I will be changing my stock headlights for all clear headlights.

Yep this is correct... Just use your stock bulbs for high beams.

The HID's from the Nissan and Audi's are most likely from a projector headlamp...
The 'vette has HID projectors, Honda S2000 is reputed to come with the best HID projectors...

You don't need projectors for HID's... They just work better with reflector housings designed specifically for them.

My set of projectors says "Warning, not for HID use! HID may cause damage to housing!" or something similar... Which is a load of poop, since HID's produce much less heat thana halogen bulb... and I don't see light output damaging a reflector...

How's the durability on the HID kits, though? Will they take a beating? Like some nasty **** off-roading? lol How weather resistant are the ballasts?

My brother goes off roading with his and they take a huge beating. The ballast are very water tight.

You do if you want it to look good and not blind on coming traffic. Thats the only way I will do it, Im not going to waste my money on only bulbs, ballast, etc. It looks like **** imo if you do it that way, but from looking head on and from the passangers compartment.

Well depending on costs and return options, I'll probably find out how well it works with a set of halogen projectors...
