Default bad day

so this morning my jimmy had a hard time starting up, once i got going all of a sudden, every light on my dash lit up and all my gages went to zero then came back up a couple times. i get to school and i stopped to let my girlfriend out, and the truck shuts off.
after school it runs fine and i go to my buddys to use his OBDII, finding out that my evap sensor is ****ed. so anyways i go to leave his place, i turn the key and nothing. now i need a starter.

the fact that your gauges dropped and came back on makes me think its more of a ground/power problem than anything. Have you checked all the wiring? battery terminals?

I would check the ignition switch. I had them go bad on me before and cause all kinds of problem. The ignition switch in my 1997 chevy blazer went bad before and caused my vehicle to shut off randomley. and also cause my transmission not to shift properley. and the ignition switch went bad in my 2001 s-10 and cused it not to start somtimes and make the sercurity light to come on.
