Blazer for first car?
For an Iowa winter, if you don't live way out in the middle of nowhere, a front wheel drive car would do you fine. 4x4 is nice, but not a necessity if you live in town or right around it (there are exceptions, obviously). I live about 90 miles from Des Moines and my Blazer didn't budge past 13 mpg all winter with almost all highway driving, with minimal 4x4 use and it sat in the garage every night. That red one looks to be a very good deal, compared to the ones you normally see around here. Like other posts say, they can be finicky and expensive but they have a following for a reason. They're very likeable and there isn't anything else like them, really. A good start for any used car, ask about the maintenance history and how long that person owned it.
