Blazer Headlights
Hi Guys, I have a question about OEM vs Projector lights.
I've been put off the idea of upgrading by the local specialists who say they don't fit/work on my Blazer. No explanation is offered. I don't think they know much about the aftermarket lights.
My question is about the bracket whichattaches the lamp to the truck. I've seen the rear view of the projectors on e-bay & they do indeed look different to mine. Also, there appears to be a protrusion at the top of the lamp which mine does not have.
Here is a picture of what I've got. (perhaps a conversion to change angle of lights from LHD to RHD)??
Comments please.

Your headlight bracket is different from my stock one...
Is there anything funky behind your headlight on the truck?
As for the projectors themselves, you might need to trim a little bit of the radiator core support for them to fit properly, other than that, you should be able to get away with flipping the cut-off shield...
I'll go crack mine open and see if that will work without mods or not
In the mean time... This is the back of my projector (before I started upgrading it)

After taking the light apart, it seems that it would take some modification to get the cut-off to work for you...
That's the main reason the projectors wouldn't work. The cut off goes the wrong way for RHD roads... Are you and good at modifying stuff? it doesn't seem like it would be too hard to do...

Thanks for the reply Dennis.
As I suspected. My brackets are then most probably the mod from LHD to RHD which is why the Chev specialist put it in the 'too hard'basket. Unless of course I request them to do it - I guess. After all, their main business is to convert American imports.
I'm not too sure what you mean by "funky" behind the lights but the drivers side has the battery there & the pass side has the air filter box.
I may be able to doa conversionBUT if I don't get it right& it fails the bi-annual WOF (warrent of fitness) I will have wasted around $250(US) & then need to buy used brackets to restore it. I also understand thatwhere the bulb fits, the reflector will need to be tweaked?? so as to aim the lights to suit the RHD.
I think for now at least, I'll stick with the existing & upgrade to a better bulb. Pity, as I think the projectors are really cool.
In the meantime I have just recieved my cold air intake from the US & am eager to install it this weekend. Hopefully the black bumper lights I ordered will arrive this week too. I've also now got the wiring sorted for the roof lights & will hook that up as well. I'll post new pic's then.
Thanks again.
Ken

Did you mean you were going to retrofit real HID projectors into it? You can't really do it with the stock lights.
I thought you were going to buy some ebay projectors for the Blazer, and run those. (which would make it easier to swap in real HID projectors later on)
For the stock lights, it shouldn't matter which is which... There's no reason the bracket should be butchered like that... I thought there might have been more stuff between the core support and the headlight... But if it's a LHD import, then no, no worries there...
The first picture is my S2000 projector with the LHD cutoff...
The second picture is my hastilly modified ebay projector for RHD cutoff...
A little more time and effort could make it look perfect, and not half arsed like mine is at the moment

Hi, No, not HID's. I was more after thelook of the e-bay projectors rather than the lighting. They look more modern & would make my ride a lot different & stand out from the other Blazers in New Zealand.
The truck is in fact a RHD import not LHD. Which is why I need to be wary of justordering parts from the USA.
I've just been told that the Chevy specialist has (this week)recieveda fewwrecks from Japan for breakdown for spare parts & one of them is in fact LHD, so I'll go there on Saturday & have a look at the lightsto see how they differ.
Thanks for your input.

The brackets should be universal... There might be some lens differences...
Otherwise, they're exactly the same... Or should be, anyway...
Like I said, to go projector, you'll either need to see if there's any RHD ones out there, or convert a set of US projectors.
