I was given a 2000 blazer zr2. The owner hit a tree with it. Front bumper was def bad. Going to replace the radiator support. The radiator is still good surprisingly. Luckily nothing touched the motor. Although the right side frame rail got bent in. the bumper mount is def bent back, but i plan on doing a fabricated bumper. Also plan on trying to bend the frame rail back as much as i can. Body lines were straight. No fender damage.
Do any of you have any thoughts on what I can/should do? Thanks in Advance!
This picture was taken before I removed the Radiator support.
Looks like when my daughter rear ended someone with my wife's sonoma lol... I used straps and my blazer to pull the frame as straight as possible, then just beat the living life out of it.... I didn't have a torch, but that wouldve definitely helped!
I bought it like this cheap. PO's kid ran right into the back of a big truck. Now my frame piece didn't sustain as much damage as yours but I did have to do a little tree chain yanks. If you do that be careful to use a chain hefty enough not to break or else you'll also have a broken windshield to replace (no I didn't do that but I'd seen it happen) Anyway. two weeks later and $1500 from the local junk lot and...
we drove her up to NY in feb three days after this. She lasted us from jan 2009 until sept 2013 when the engine finally siezed in Dallas. (RIP Little Easy) One thing I will point out is look carefully on how the frame might have affected the passenger door. I did pretty good with getting it all lined up but it did still have a small door seal leak I had to monkey with. (Ended up sliding a 1/2 inch fuel line in the door jam seal to get it to stop leaking.) It clicked over 200k on the trip up to NY. It lasted until 248k. So it can be done.
UPDATE!!
Changed out the front clip bought some new engine parts. Motor now starts like a dream!! tightened my tie rod and and allignment isnt so bad. The frame was not bent beyond the suspension. Thankfully! Here is a picture with new front clip and and a picture where my frame bent in front of the suspension. Bent frame in front of suspension
Looking good! I remember when opened got rear-ended, they pulled the frame and body back and got it looking good again... and alot of time people are getting there frame straightened and body fixed
