Now THAT'S the answer I was looking for, Sisk! In fact, for a hundred bones, I actually think I will buy the damn thing anyway, just to prove them wrong. Worst case scenario, I could just put it on the '01 Jimmy instead!

Going back to the previous conversation: I was wondering if, to solve the problem of keeping tow hooks, you guys have considered installing D-ring shackles like the ones they sell at Synergy Offroad? I can't help but think there is some way you could get those on while keeping the bull bar. Maybe just use longer bolts?

i was looking into this already. what i noticed (on my '98 bumper anyways) is the D-rings would tend to hang lower than the front lower edge of the bumper. this is a problem,'cause you know the first time we're playing around off-road (or even on-road) those rings are gonna grab & pull down, breaking the lower bumper.

now i was looking into making a bracket to extend them farther out, so they could swing back flat (underneath) and not hit anything (namely the bumper), but i haven't finished mocking them up with a bar-yet.

late to the party i know...well i have grille guard and tow hooks .
just added longer bolts to the steel angles and frame worked just fine. i didnt even have to notch the valance to fit them.
but granted mine is totally homemade from angle steel and scrapyard find.
(came off a cherokee ) works though.

i will have to get pics, i think the ones in album dont show that at all.

be sure to post up what the finish result is...

i'd like to see that pic. been thinking of putting a brush guard on if i can find one. but like i hear oh the brush guard becomes a big tow hook. no it dont not for the kinda pulling you need to get yourself or someone else out of a ditch.

the steel angle slid into the frame and i drilled out the tow hook and the mounting holes to take a slightly bigger bolt . the tow hooks went right on bottom of frame under exactly where they were mounted. the steel angle took there place inside the open end of the frame.

i can get more pics if that helps. night shot not the best.

What size bit did you use for drilling, and what size bolts (diameter, length)?
