i'm looking at getting a k5 blazer shell from the junkyard. no motor, tranny or transfer case. after it was loaded on the trailer the axles would be removed. i know a k5 with a motor, tranny, transfer case weighs a fuzz over 5,000 pounds. Do you think an s10 blazer could pull it? i trust the motor in it but the tranny is the part that worrys me. the 4l60e are no allision.
what do you guys think? i can borrow a 3/4 ton truck to pull it if i have to, but was wondering if the blazer would be up to it.

You will be able to do it but the blazer will struggle doing it. If you have a truck available i would use that. One thing to watch for would be the tongue weight. If it is too much you will have some trouble steering. I had a 24ft boat behind mine and the steering was pretty loose. Also check the ratings on your hitch. With something that heavy you will want trailer brakes too.

The 4l60e is the same transmission used on full size silverado and tahoe trucks. I believe the maximum factory rated towing capacity for a 4.3 s10 is around 5500lbs.

Tandem axle trailer? If yes that'll keep the tongue weight down and steering shouldn't be too much of an issue.
Power wise, the 4.3 "should" be able to do it, it has alot of torque, it's your driveline I'd be worried about, the 4L60E should be able to take it though.
