Car fire on NYS Thruway
Anyone drive on the NYS Thruway on Friday (5/20) near Woodbury? Traffic was heavy from Newburgh Exit 17 to just south of the Woodbury toll barrier going southbound due to a vehicle on fire. I drove by it in the Jimmy after they got the fire out (the whole front was black with the tires blown and front end destroyed) and it was on the back of a flatbed. I was shocked to see what kind of vehicle it was: A BLAZER. I couldn't tell exactly what year it was because the front end was destroyed (other than the fact it was a 2nd gen body), but judging by the rear bumper and the way that the lettering is, I think it was a 96-97. What in the world could have caused something like this? If it is something electrical, is that what fuses are for? I have seen other videos of Blazers on fire on Youtube. What usually causes fires like that and are they preventable? The wiring on my truck is in good condition and it only leaks a bit of oil under the car, but all hoses are fine. There are no fuel leaks. But what else would cause that?
