ok so i did the DIC mod (went from compass/temp to trip) in my 96 blazer i have swapped out the factory temp/comp harness for the trip harness (the trip computer came out of this bravada also) out of a 96 bravada the plugs are the same behind the dash but mine is missing the data wire that the new harness has so i spliced the purple wire to the data port wire (purple) and still nothing just get the -.- after 20 seconds.my head is about to explode I'm not understanding why its not working ... is there a way to see if that data wire is working/good i don't have a scan tool and don't want to drive 40 miles to the parts store ... is there a way to use a multi-meter to test it ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED!!!!



P.S. i also cannot get the compass to calibrate i probly drove in 50 circles slowly to get it to calibrate and no dice.. stays on C

 

anyone know anything about the DIC ??? i just tested the wire from the PCM/ECU that leads to the OBDII port (purple wire) and all the way to the purple wire at the DIC and it has continuity the whole way im at a complete loss here .....

ok soo i figured out what the problem was on my DIC issue after all the trouble i have had trying to get it to work its finally working ....... i went to the junk yard today and (for ****s and grins) i bought another ECU from the bravada i got the DIC out of and guess what ... IT WORKS ... for some reason the ECU that came with the truck wouldn't send any info to the DIC or the OBD II plug this is a 96 blazer so not sure what they did to the ECU that year or if the ECU data class 2 internal was fried in the ECU soo if anyone needs help with a temp/compass to DIC let me know and i will try my best to help u out !!!!!!!!!
