Default Diy throttle body gasket

Hello everyone, I recently did a throttle body rebuild on my 89 4.3l s10 blazer. My IAC went out so I figured it was a good time to rebuild the tb. This wasn't my first rebuild but it is the first time I had to remove the injectors after putting it back together. Unfortunately when I took the top plate that holds the injectors in place I tore the gasket. So I got some gasket material made of rubber/fabic to diy a gasket, I've failed twice now and I'm wondering if any one has any tips. I'm using 2 different razor knives one is the small breakaway extending knife and the other is your common fold up work razor knife. Would a scalpel be better? Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanx and hope all is well
