Default electric fan swap!

my 87 blazer sounds like a airplane when i floor it at a red light, that fan im guessing has to take at least 3 to 4 hp at 2000 rpms, and it is always spinning due to a lovely stuck clutch.. so im thinking about replacing it with an electric one i have laying around,.. could i just wire it to one of the 6 switches i have in the cab? i took the fan off and the only thing you could hear was the roar of the side pipe, no annoying whooooshhhhhhhh! haha

I have the clutch fan on my 2003 Blazer and get the same sound. All the cars I have had with electric fan were operated by temp. motor running or not, if the temp. of the engine was up the fan ran, even when parked.

Electric fans are nice untill they go out. If it's at least a 16" or so it should do the job. Myself I'd replace the clutch on the fan, much more peace of mind.
