Default Extended Spare Tire Carrier w/ Jerry Can Support

So I've been tinkering around with this idea for my Jimmy, wanted to get some outside input. Keep in mind I'm no master editor, and I'm a lot better at visualizing than I am graphic design, but here goes.

I've liked the idea of mounting a Jerry Can on the rear of my Jimmy. It just seems like it would blend pretty well. I did some thinking, a little drawing around and came up with this. Basically, I cut both the top and bottom tube, along with the handle rod and extend them both out to a certain measurement. Then, I weld the extension tubing onto it to basically rebuild the carrier. After that, I weld a plate onto the front of it between the tire and handle, and mount the Jerry Can onto it.

What do you guys think?

You be better putting it on the other side of the tire to get the weight closer to the hinges rather than all that extra weight on the end of the carrier.

Agreed with above! But I can tell you that you will be blocking out the tail light. I have some "tabs" welded to my bar so I can mount a jerry can on the passenger side of the bar. Works great but you can't see the tail light.

I only carry the can offroad or when towing my camping trailer. Haven't had any problems with LEO's.

I'll definitely keep both this in mind, it was just a thought I came up with looking at the rear end one day. Main goal is to get it running! Haha
