Friend tossing 88 blazer...will any parts fit 98?
Topic says it all. In a few days my friend is gettin an old 88 blazer towed. I was wondering if any of the parts are compatible with a 98 (mine).
Mainly interested in the Y-pipe...mine is rotten, the one on his looks almost new. Will that fit mine (maybe with a bit of modding)?

If they are the same size pipe, and if you can route it in a way where itd be out of the way Im sure itd work. Other than that I think only the wheels and wipers would work on the newer one, lol.

I go to Rockauto's site and look up the part I want to use.
Then I click on the part # and it shows the other models it will fit. In this case only up to 94.
So.. since you said you might be willing to mod it, I looked up the parts that connect to it. None of those are the same either.
Which means it would be a LOT of work to save 80 bucks.
You know what does save you some bucks sometimes? If the bulbs are the same or even if they arent, might come in handy.

Cheapest Y-Pipe I can find here in Nova Scotia, Canada, is $200+ or get one made for $300+. After looking at mine, only diff I can see is that the gasket is different. My muffler guy can weld a few things on to make it fit.
Either way I have to take my stuff to the local muffler shop, guys there are friggin geniuses at doing things with exhaust systems.
Would the front axle fit a newer blazer?

Swanked the speakers out of it...looks like the dash speakers will fit my 98. Fan will do with some minor wire modifications.
Took out the 6x9's in the back, someone replaced the factory speakers with nice Pioneers. w00t for me.

exhaust pieces are an easy fit, usually piping is chosen based on hp. 200-300 hp use 2 1/4", 300-375 ish use 2 3/4" and so on. Chances are you've probably got the same rating and thus, the same piping, measure to be sure, I'm sure it would be fine, just don't look for a Cat, don't think there is one, lol.....GL !!!!!
