Friendly Safety reminder!!
Using anti seize on the guide pins does nothing for the pads wearing out, but it does help with removing the pins in the future.... sometimes. The problem is the holes in the brackets rust out and the guide pins bind inside them causing the outboard pads to drag & wear out prematurely. Then there's always the steel piston and aluminum caliper housing along with some hydroscopic liquid inside, but that's another story.
One of my wife's friends had a 2000 Neon and brought it to me because it had some pulsation in the brake pedal. When I took it apart to look at it the front rotors were about halfway gone and badly warped. The rear rotors had completely worn off the hubs. I had never seen such horribly neglected brakes in my life. I asked her if she had heard some kind of noise when she stopped. She told me that there was a horrible screeching sound when she put the brakes on but eventually the noise went away so she thought the problem had cleared itself up.
