Cool Future Rig Plans (M1009)

So Im currently on the hunt for an M1009 CUCV. They look like this.

My plans so far are to not moddify the over all look to much minus going w/ a solid color paint. Not a big fan of the camo look.

M1009 Specs:
Frame: 3/4 ton
Engine:6.2 Diesel
Transmission:TH400, 3 speed, automatic
Transfer case: NP208, 2 speed, locking, chain driven.
Axles: Corp. 10-bolts front and rear 3/4 ton 8 bolt
Differentials: Gov-Loc
Electrical system: 12/24 volt, negative ground, Dual 100 amps.
Heating/Cooling: hot-water heat all models, no AC.
Brakes: Hydraulic, front discs, rear drums

Otherwise the Plans so far are:
Marine Radio/ speakers (So I can rinse out the mud w/ out worrying about the radio.)
CB/amp/8ft whip
Rhino Line the floors
On Board Air (AC Comp Mod)
Underhood Welder Mod
5g Air Tank
2- 12k winches (Front & Rear)
Roof Rack
Push Bar Bumper
"Power Station" (3-400wt DC to AC Invertors in the rear stowage area)
Stowage boxes mounted in the rear
4-6in Lift (Enough to clear humvee 36"-37" Tires)
Double beadlock humvee rims

So once I get a truck I'll start a build thread. If you guys have any advice/tips on any of the mods or questions let me know. Otherwise stayed tuned & I'll hopefully be kicking this show soon!

Onboard Air mod pt 1 & 2

Welder Mod

i dont know why they call those blazers 3/4 tons, the military has a weird way of rating vehicles compared to civilian models. i owned a 85 1009 and its just a half ton, 10 bolt axles 3.08 gears and that slow 6.2 diesel. i currently have a m1008 which is the pick up truck version and they call it a 1 1/4 ton even though its just a 1ton.

like 5+ years ago now everyone whos selling them thinks they are worth a fortune. they used to be dirt cheap because they were basically a no option uncomfortable truck

i bought my m1008 with a blown engine for 800 and my m1009 for 350 missing the drivetrain.

Yea I was browsing the gov liquidation sites today & noticed that the m1009's had a six bolt pattern aka 1/2 ton axles. Which kinda disappointed me because I wonna be able to run humvee rims and tires. So I have to step up to a m1008 aka k20 pick up or do the axle conversion which is a little over my head but I think could manage. So I don't know I guess I'll see what works out.

Btw I found a CL post this morning where the guy has a 77 k5 4sp & np205. Would it be better to go that route you think? I really like driving a manual & I heard the np205's are gear driven instead of chain driven like the np208hd in the cucv's.

yeah the 205 is a gear driven iron case compared to the chain np208. i personally have always run the np208 which should come with both the 1008 and 1009 version. i have a 205 i got with a parts truck like 5 years ago i been planning to use once the 208 broke but it never has.

either way you want to go is fine, its all in what you want. a blazer is a blazer you can build it to how you want it. you can always buy the m1009 and slap a set of 1 ton axles under it and run the h1 rims if you want.

my main thing i look for is rust, find something that runs good and has floors it gets old having to replace your truck every 2 years due to it falling apart. get one from down south if possible
