Default general ramblings yada,yada,yada...

Okay, I picked up the Blazer today....or rather had a tow truck get it and carry it to the shop (I bought it with a bad tranny). I'm calling a guy when I get done here that has a rebuilt trans. advertised. If I can buy his it'll save me about $550 over having my original one rebuilt. Anyway...I have been calling this thing a full size because it doesn't have S-10 written on it anywhere.....well DUH! they dropped the S-10 name in '95....Not being familar with Chevys I just figured that GM down sized the whole line, and this was as big as they got in 97... okay, now I know that the one I have is the s10 size blazer, but it's not really an s10. Well is there a full size version? I have seen posts of people referring to thier late 90's Blazers as S10's. which makes me think there are two differt sizes (also when I was calling for parts from the salvage yards they asked me if it was an s10 not.) Anyway, I just wanted to know if GM continued to make 2 different sizes of Blazers after they dropped the S10 banner...if they did, then how should one refer to thier Blazer soeveryone knows what size they have....Maybe something like Prince did for a while...let's see...," my Blazer is the size formerly known as the S-10" LOL! okay, okay I know I'm rambling and I certainly DON'T really know what I'm talking about, but I do seem to recall some years ago that I was confused everytime someone would refer to thier Lumina....let's see, is that the mini van, or the car....hummmm....LOL!

The '95+ trucks are considered the 2nd generation of the S-series suv. There was no fullsize Blazer after '94, only the Tahoe & Suburban (and variants). The reason for dropping the S10 moniker was because of the discontinued fullsize Blazer name.

The 2dr fullsize Blazer was renamed to the Tahoe in '95. So it wasn't a Blazer anymore in name. There was no 2dr Tahoe or Yukon after '97.

Thanks for the info.....I'm better now!

The guy still had the rebuilt trans for sell, so Iwent to see it last night. It's hard to tell a lot about a trans sitting on the garage floor, but theoutside of the case was clean, the fluidlookedand smelled fine and the gaskets apeared to have been replaced. Since it appeared that the guy is honest, I bought it anddropped it off at the shop this morning. They told me it would probablybe done by Monday afternoon! So far so good... just keeping my fingers crossed!
