Why on earth would they rivet the coil to the bracket? Riveted ball joints is bad enough. Seriously, how much more could a few bolts cost?

 

thats what it comes down to with newer stuff it isnt the 70s or 80s anymore. now everything is assembled to save pennies and make installation on the assembly line easier they arent designed to be user friendly.

speaking of those ball joints i had to do a set on a 95 fullsize the other day. nothing like drilling for a hour and a half lol

 

Angle grinder, a buddy of mine has a big ole electric one that will destroy a 4wd s10 ball joint rivet in about 10 seconds flat.

 

Shoot, even by the 70s they were getting too cheap. The ball joints were riveted on my '73 Chevelle!

Guess I can't complain too much. They lasted for over 30 years.

 

yeah my 90 pick up has 185k on it, still original ball joints, they dont even put grease fittings on things anymore

 

The 4x4 Blazers I have had both had bolted ball joints. At first I thought they were replacements but later found out they come that way from the factory.
