I can choose what I want them for. They will have to be 9005 since both slots on my halos are 9005's. I will put the HID's in the low beam spot and put silverstars in the high beam spot. Should look quite nice, and bright lol.

I hope you went for the 4300k... The cheap bulbs tend to color shift pretty early, and they're going to get bluer on ya...
Besides, 4300k gives you the most light :D And I highly recommend that you get a wiring harness that powers the HID's from the battery, and wire your truck so the low beams stay on when you turn the high beams off... |

To tell you the truth, I am on my way to ebay right now to pay for these. I am going to get the 4300K. What do you mean a wiring harness so the low beams turn on when the high beams go off, they do already. My low beams automatically go on when I disengage my high beams, pretty sure everyones do:). Do you mean that the low beams stay on when I turn my high beams on, cause that sounds killer to me:D

Yes, lol, so your low beams stay on when you turn on your highs :D
The wiring harness is so your HID draws power right from the battery, instead of through the factor wiring... The ignition charge can spike over 20 amps, so it's good to have it's own power, that's only triggered from the low beam plug :D |

Okay, sounds like a plan to me. Where do I get this harness or can I make one myself and what gauge wire should I use for this? I went with the 6000K after some searching around and looking at pictures of how 4300K and 600K light up the road. See, I go to Maine alot with the family and want to take the blazer up with some freinds one of these years and alot of Maine roads don't have street lights.

Unless you know pictures are taken with the same settings on a good camera, it's hard to compare lighting...
4300k is the brightest... But at least 6000k isn't the worst... hopefully they don't colorshift too badly... You can either make the harness yourself... 12 - 14 guage wire is recommended, or you can probably find one on ebay, or get one from www.pilothid.com whichever works for you. If you're good with electronics, I'd say built it yourself... If you're going to have uses for the extra wire, lol |

It is coming in the masil today as fedex website told me. I am hopign it is there when I get home[8D] I will pos tpics up as I am installing and the final product next week sometime:)

HID's came in the mail!!!!!
They came in the mail the other day from FEDEX. I am not supposed to be using the computer right now because I am having a problem with my eyes that I get once in a while from what I think is using the computer too much or it is a nerve/stress thing that makes me blink my eyes like crazy and by the end of the day it looks as if I have two black eyes because they are swollen from blinking constantly. I don't know exactly what causes it, but it just stops whenever it wants too. It is getting better so I thought I would show a pic of the new add on. These are pics of the unit. i am installing it next week along with a few other changes on my vacation. I will post pics during and after the install. Okay, here it is!!

Thats huge for a cell pic! The ballasts are a little different than what I have, but the kit looks very similar. Are they UL approved?

My cell camera is 2MP and takes bigger pics than that. I had to resize it in photobucket! What's UL approved? They say DOT on the ballasts though. The fact that made me buy them is the brighter than stock and half the power. I want to do a system this spring and some more lights. I am going to add a cap and a better battery (prolly Optima or Duralast) and see what it does. I got a raise at work and it's tax time, so I am starting to but the mods I have wanted for a while!

UL just means that they are found to meet certain standards set in the industry for electrical items (christmas lights to TVs to appliances (anything electronic)). Just means it has been approved as a safe electronic device.

Trust me when I say this. I hope that NONE of you ever have to go through a UL or CSA certification process! I was just getting into it when the engineering department was restructured, after which it was no longer my responsibility. Man was that a HUGE sigh of relief!!

I just picked up and installed 8k hid's which are brighter then 6k and clearer too. I didn't need any extra wiring it was all plug and play, took 10 minutes to install and they make night into day I tell you!!! I got mine sponsored to me, so I got mine for free!! :D

So basically if you are an offroad lifted guy I will tell you now its harder for you to get any sponsorships unless you go all out, I got lucky cause my friend has his own business and we been friends for 10yrs so thats how I am getting my stuff for free!! ( alot of back scratching and promotion help) |

I haven't tried putting the headlight covers on yet at night, I will have to try that and see how they work with them on, and if there bright enough I will just keep them on!! That was my only problem with them is that they are so dark you can't see the headlights out in front of you very well at all!!

Blue is the hardest for our eyes to work with. For the most light output, you want 4300k. 8000k is also more prone to glare due to its easy refractive nature. |

Well when I installed my hid's my buddy who I got them from has 4300 in his frontier and we went and compared them and mine lit up the area more then his. Maybe its what we thought and were wrong but thats what it seemed like when we compared each others! Either way you look at it hid's are sweet!!:D

Crappy to begin with. :D My 4300k is gonna whoop your 8000k seven ways 'till sunday :D and besides, PnP kit bulbs are generally inconsistant in performance :D And those 8000k's are going to color shift and get even bluer on ya. |

Factory OEM bulbs color shift, and they ARE the highest quality HID bulbs you can get ;) It's just a matter of how long it takes for the color shift to happen. And if you bought them on ebay, chances are, that company/person that sold it to ya is gonna have a different name in 6 months or so... Hopefully not, but that's the general trend with most of the kits. Which kit did you get? The ONLY way it might resist color shifting is if they rebased OEM D2S bulbs... Mine kit HID's color shifted after something like 70 hours... so like a week or two after I got them :D If 8000k really WAS brighter, it would be OEM equipment in HID equipped vehicles. ;) That's why OEM is 4100 - 4300k... I'll bring out my 4300k's soon as I get them installed :D OEM HID FTW! |

Don't forget wall shots from 20 - 25 feet away on a non-lit wall! white, if possible, so I can see how much glare the 9006 kits have ;) At least it's nowhere NEAR as bad as it is in a single high/low beam housing... Fords, Dodges, pretty much anything with a two headlamp system are horribly blinding. Yea the 8000k kit I have isn't that blue at all its a light blue almost white!! Mine will light up that wall and whats behind it! I will get a good picture and post it up!!! My hid's are oem replacement like how yours are I will take some pics of kit!!

It's not OEM replacement... OEM replacement would be a D2S bulb... Not compatible with a 9006 socket ;)
It's a PnP kit (plug and play). Not trying to be an arse or anything... Just trying to inform the masses about proper HID usage ;) |
