Default Hooking up a CB Radio

I am interested in hooking up a CB radio in my 2000 Blazer. I have all the tools/supplies to put in the radio, but I don't know how to hook it up to the battery for power. I don't want to use a cigarette lighter adapter, so how would I go about hardwiring it into my Blazer? Thanks a lot.

You can either tap into an open spot in the fuse block or run a power wire in off the battery. Either way you will need to make sure to use an in-line fuse thats big enough and use heavy enough gauge wire. If you use the fuse panel then you can make it where the cb will only be on when the ignition is on or if its directly to the battery it will have constant power.

Don't bother with the fuse block. Go straight to the battery with at least 16-gauge wire (assuming you're running a legal CB). That's the best way to keep any crap in your car's electrical system out of your CB, and vice versa.

I've always wired my ham radios to the battery, and it's worked well every time.
