Default How NOT to repair t-stat housing

This jackwagon decided this was the best way to fix his t-stat housing

Yes thats a c-clamp holding the t-stat housing in place. Bolt broke off and he decided "the dealer and a proper repair is a ripoff. I can fix it with a $3 c-clamp from harbor freight" not gonna lie that made my day. Anyone else seen ghetto/redneck fixes like this? Post some pics

Ha that aint to bad. They actually sell exhaust C clamps for when exhaust studs rot off. Great for fords cause if you go to remove the manifold all those studs break too. I've actually jb welded a exhaust manifold to a block before cause half the studs broke. It was either that or replace the head

Theres all types out there my friend. Just like you gotta have stuff that sucks to have stuff thats cool... You have to have idiots to have smart people.

Make sure you get us some photos of what happens when he hits a rough patch and that clamp goes into the fan and destroys the fan and rad... Im sure he will just wrap the tow strap around the steering linkage and yank her home. But hey! At least he will be able to re-use that clamp on something else!

Any reason why he wouldnt drill out both flanges and put and bolt and nut through there? Sheesh man, he could even drill and tap threads into the bottom part for a proper fix... He could buy a tap and die set for about 30 bucks... But theres no knowing if the knucklehead would know how to use it anyways - probably mount them in a drill and aim away...

I wish I had a photo of my friends mud wagon for ya... Headers wouldnt fit, so he mounted them upside down on the wrong sides and they point straight up off the front of the engine with glass packs welded upwards after the headers... Liikes like giant horns coming up from the radiator area. He also mounted the TBI on an old school oval port high-rise intake manifold with a little afro-engineering - that then bolts back onto the sqaure port vortec heads via redrilled bolt holes - and he used the square port gaskets. It runs, makes a ton of noise, and gets the job done... Just looks like something from Thunderdome.
