Why does'nt the insurance company get the whole blazer shipped back up to Auckland.
They're experts. They don't need to consult anyone (NOT) - least of all the specialist for this vehicle.
They'll carry it to the nearest garage only! Further & I will have to pay! Can't afford that.

Even if the Smart car had a tow hitch! Doubt it'll cope! LOL

I do have say though that with Blazers being so rare down there it's not surprising that they don't know what they're doing. Yes, it sucks, but think about it. If I brought a Renault or a Fiat or something like that into a shop around here, they probably wouldn't know there to start. Yes, the basics of all cars/trucks remain the same but still, when you have never seen something before you can't really be expected to fix it easily.
At least they could tell the insurance they don't know the vehicle.

UPDATE>

After some argy bargy & raised voices, the gearbox guys have "fixed" the t.case & shipped it back to the Mitsi Guys in this little one horse town.

I got confirmation this afternoon that it had arrived safely & they will fit it in the morning.

All going well, & after testing the t.case they'll phone me & with a bit of luck I can drive down Saturday morning & bring her back.

If not then it'll be next week .... or next year. So, fingers crossed.

I'll avoid the river this time! LOL

Well, here we go again. The t.case had arrived & had been fitted, & fitted again! because they had the same problem - could not select anything in 4wd. Anyway, the guy down there says her had to "calibrate" the t.case motor???? to get it to align with the shaft - or something like that & got it working. He had spoken to my wife so I'm terribly confused to say the least! Unfortunately, he'll not be there tomorrow so I can't ask what that was all about.

Anyway, who cares! We leave at 3am in the morning to go fetch the Black Beast!
