RPM 2125
Gear 3.42
ratio .70
tire 26.75
RPM 1950
gear 3.42
raito .70
tire 29.00
175 RPM difference
2000
3.42
.7
26.75
66.48370724 MPH
2175 < diff. in tire dia (175 rpm)
3.73
.7
26.75
66.2920987 MPH IN OD
46.4044 MPH IN 3rd
28.4689 MPH IN 2nd
15.1648 MPH IN 1st
so using 2" shorter wheels is eqivulent to runnig 3.73's compared to my 3.42's? i used this site to http://www.csgnetwork.com/rearendgearcalc.html to compare data.

i was curious if that was actually true? because i have a 99 S-10 rear end with 3.73 gears in it. so im trying to estimate gas mileage difference and RPM difference. I was thinking i wanted 4.10's but if the smaller tires make that big a difference than prolly not.

3.73 gears with the stock 28-29" tires? its probably the best all around gear ratio, If your a town driver 4.10s would put you in overdrive at 60kmh maybe sooner, Witch is...I have no clue in MPH..But its probably the best on gas mileage lol

if you do a lot of highway driving then a slightly taller tire with a low rolling resistance will net better mpg... or go to a higher (numerically lower) gear ratio. But in reality the cost will probably not be worth it.
