Default Need help diagnosing my problem.

So I had my transmission re built about 6 months ago because the 3-4 clutch pack went out. I had it professionally re installed so I know it was done right.

the other day I was driving and it started slipping like it was before. I getup to about 35 and it just revs up but doesn’t gain speed. Eventually it shifts and goes up to about 65 and doesn’t shift into 4th at all for any reason.

I was forced to drive it because it was all I had at the time so what ended up happening is I was driving, came to a stop light. When it turned green it went up to about 15 mph and just stopped speeding up. I tried all the gears 2wd and 4wd and it won’t move at all. Had to be towed.

also I have had this thing for about 4 years now and every time I shifted from park to drive or drive to reverse it always clunked real hard. Still did it after the trans was re built.

the guy that towed it says he thinks the transfer case is broke and that’s why it won’t move. I’m not sure as I haven’t done any diagnostics yet due to the weather.

does anybody have any ideas what could be going on? Or know what I should check?

I would suggest to go back at the transmission shop.

Quick checks that come to my mind:

- Check all fuses
- Check electrical connector at transmission
- Check for leaks
- Check for faults on ECU and/or PCM
- Check transmission fluid level according manual

That sounds like a somewhat common failure on these Transfer cases, snap rings blow out due to poor lubrication and bad heat treatment at the factory, transfer case oil pump wobbling out the casing and grinding a hole in it, its only magnesium so its super soft.
