OK, so, I went and looked at a 97 Blazer, I believe it's the LS or LT version. 4 door, power everything, leather interior. The interior is in good shape, other than needing a detail, the drivers seat has some minor tears in the leather on the outside by the drivers door. It has 218,xxx on the clock, not sure if the motor has been replaced or not. The lady wants 2500 for it, I'm going to use the mileage and the fact that it's going to need tires as a bargaining point. I'm gonna try to talk her down to 1500 cash. Or, do you guys think that's too much? She was asking 3500, told my wife she'd take 2500. I'm supposed to go look at it/test drive it tonight, if I can get pics, I'll do it.
It's brown with a tan leather interior, looks like it's all stock, completely unmolested, right down to the stereo. The body/paint is flawless. It's only got 1 tiny ding on the back passenger fender flare. I didn't get a chance to pop the hood and look at the motor, she wasn't home and the car was locked.
Another thing, how rare are Blazers with the shifter on the floor? And this one has a center console.
If I can get it for 1500, I may have it by tomorrow, assuming that's still not too much with those miles.

Do a compression test on it - if you get about 120 on each of the 6 cylinders then I would buy it for 1500. Offerning 1500 cause it needs tires is a fair price I say. If its nice outside, and not leaking, I would even give 2000 for it if she wont go lower.

I just went and drove it, seems to have plenty power. She said it needs an oil change, it studdered a little in overdrive when I took off, nothing bad. It doesn't seem to leak. Everything seems to work. The "service engine soon" light was on, but went off after driving it for a while. I made her an offer of 1500, she said if she traded it in, they'd only give her 1300. She said she'd think about it and get back to me. She seemed kinda hesitant. So, we'll see.

I'm kinda hoping she takes my offer. She still owes 1300 on it, she said if she were to take it to a car lot to trade it in, that's all they'd give her, well, they wouldn't give that to her, they'd pay it off. I looked at the motor, other than being a little dusty, didn't see any oil anywhere. She said the radiator needs to be flushed, she said there was rust in it? Not sure how bad, it was dark out. Checked the oil, it was full, didn't look super dirty. I'd like to check it out again in the daylight. I may do that today after school. I'm super excited. A new toy to play with

That $#[email protected] is CRAZY if she thinks she can get 3500 or even 2500 for 218,000 miles. I'd pay 1500, and only that much. Tell her that it'll probably need new engine internals.

I think I'm going to hold off, reason being is, I want a 98 or newer, I was anxious to have a new vehicle, so I almost jumped on it. I'm not super crazy about leather, and I'd like to have a Blazer with the shifter on the column. If it doesn't have a center console, I'll either fab up one or grab one from a different Blazer.
And apparently she's not going to take my offer, she never got back a hold of the wife or I. Oh well I guess, I'll keep looking.
