Default Needing advice on transmission.

Hi everyone I recently purchased a 1991 full size blazer with the 5.7L TBI and 700R4 transmission. On my way home from the sellers house the transmission overheated and now I Don't have 2nd gear I was wondering if i should purchase a new 700R4 or if i should look for other options. Please let me know what you think thank you.

First determine why it overheated so you dont destryo the next trans you put in. Secondly decide what you are going to do with this Blazer. I have an 89 and wheel alot but nothing major, so i bought a used but rebuilt 700 with extra clutches and a shift kit. It has worked well and shifts awesome. If you plan to put bigger than 38's i would say get a 400 or a 4l80.

My plan if i find some money somewhere, is to find a wrecked lated model Chevy/GMC and swao in the whole 6.0/4l80/trans case into my K5.
