well if you over inflate it by about 20 percent then when it gets to the right pressure it will mostly be nitrogen

its not that simple... oxygen and nitrogen have different weights... and when pressurized together and you remove one the pressure will not change that simple... (thanks Fluid Mechanics CE304).... lol... We are currently discussing this topic... Plus each molecule has a different compressibility...

When last did you read the Oxford ENGLISH dictionary? LOL

And wow! This looks like a good topic. All the guys at school really are learning thier physics! Good on ya all!

Seems to be more of a prefferential thing - or a good sales job by the TYRE/TIRE guys! LOL

And yea, even at 61 I know that the air we breathe is mostly nitrogen!

For 20$, I'll just check my tires on a regular basis and fill em with air

You know I used to work for a chevy dealership and of course we had a A nitro tank there and I never once saw anybody come refill the tank. and for it to work we had to hook up a standard air line to it... I always felt it was a scam to get money for putting air in tires.

Holy science class! hahaha. Interesting to see I don't remember a damn thing from high school chemistry. Hard to believe you posted that 4 years ago Kyle. I didn't think the nitro tires were around that long.

They have been around for awhile, and most people just never cared enough or caught on.... All of it looks good on paper and in models... but not in practice...
