Oil Change Reminder
I LOVE my new 2024 Blazer RS. But OMG, for the last 1,000 miles I can't start my car, open my phone, or read my email without getting reminded that my oil needs to be changed. If I've got 10% or 1,000 miles of the oil life left, then stop harassing me Chevy!!! If I'm good for 7,500 miles, then let me be good!!!
You likely received at least one free oil change when you purchased it. You didn't specify how many miles you have on the vehicle already.
7500 miles to an oil change is a general recommendation and not likely one that will be reflected in the actual oil change interval unless you are doing a LOT of highway driving. The oil life remaining is not based on mileage alone, but a bunch of factors with oil temp & engine load during operation being high among them. A lot of quick trips with a cold engine would result in faster drop in the oil life remaining. A lot of high engine load operation would do the same. Any activity that GM deems degrades the oil will impact the oil life remaining according to their testing/programming.
I try to never let any of my vehicles drop below 10%, but I own my vehicles and intend to keep them for a good long while. A $30-$50 oil change is cheap insurance. If you are leasing...your insentive to properly maintain the vehicle is likely lower (just my opinion).
As far as the notifications, you should be able to change your notification settings (events, methods, etc.) through your OnStar dashboard (either in the phone app or on the website). I do not currently subscribe to OnStar so I can't give specific instructions to that.
