Anyone have any problems after having a remote starter installed ? Any recommendations ? Wanted to get one installed for my wife's 2000 4.3 for the winter season coming up here in Ct. We have 1 in our 4Runner and didn't cause us any trouble, just curious will I open up a can of worms electrically? Anyone want to chime in ? Thanks...

 

With the bypasses available now, wiring a remote starter is quite easy. It used to be very involved to get the door locks, etc wired in and many relays were required. The newer serial bus communication bypass modules eliminate the need for those relays for the locks, etc.

That said, things can still be messed up during an install. A quick hack job will probably cause problems down the road. You need to find a shop to install it that is good at what they do. If they warranty their work, even better.
