Default Replacing the fuel pump and tank in the morning...

I think I mentioned a while back that the fuel tank was leaking pretty bad. I got a 20 gallon plastic tank off of eBay and I figured I might as well replace the pump as well so I got a fuel pump from LMC Truck.

Both parts have been sitting in my house for a couple weeks now while I've tried to find time and a day with good weather to switch 'em.

I've never replaced the pump before, is it difficult? I have a Haynes manual so it shouldn't be too difficult, hopefully. I should probably change the filter to. I guess I'll check it tomorrow and if it needs to be changed I'll do so.

This is going to be interesting. I'll try to get pics.

Thanks, me too. :P

EDIT: Well, I got it all installed and nothing blew up! It started right up when I was finished. I'll have to go fill up the tank tomorrow for the first time since I bought the truck. Pics coming.

It took about seven hours. The old tank just didn't want to come out. Most of the bolts were rusted and I couldn't get enough leverage to really crank on them but with the help of a piece of pipe just the right length, I was finally able to get 'em loose.

Here's some pics. The close up of the tank shows one of the holes. There ended up being at least two holes, both pin sized. I couldn't believe that they could leak so much.

Wow! the old tank was pretty f**ked, at least you wont have that problem again with the plastic tank. Always found a can of WD40 handy for problem bolts like that.
