Default Road Trip

During the past three weeks, I drove my '98 LS 4dr 4wd from Kansas City to Telluride, CO to Santa Fe, NM and back to KC with a lot of daily use in both Telluride and Santa Fe, over 2,300 miles total. That may not sound remarkable, but after 17 years the truck has all its original hoses (still supple & strong), its original exhaust components, all its original bulbs, and (honest!) all the original front brake components. Between Telluride and Santa Fe, I had to stop just east of Durango to add 12 oz of R134A to the AC due to a slow leak, but aside from that the truck performed perfectly. It has a bit over 120,000 miles on it now. I'm responsible for all but 6,000 of those. I've owned it since January, '99. I've replaced the water pump, the alternator, a wheel bearing, the remote oil filter lines, the rear brake pads, a pinion seal in the differential, and the pulse board in the wiper motor. Aside from that, no mechanical or electrical problems. I've maintained it conscientiously, and it's paid off. It's the best vehicle I've ever owned.
