S10 Blazers a classic?
So I was just looking at K5 Blazer prices and wow. They are going full full classic car prices. What do you think will happen to our S10 Blazer prices? Particularly now that the new non Blazer Blazer is out. Will we see people flocking to the classic “real” Blazers? Will standard 90s-2000’s Blazers ever take off in price like the K5? Are we sitting on future classics?
I don't think our S10s will ever be considered classic. Far too many were made and just about every mechanic I've even spoken to about them has hated them. Even the KBB on a excellent condition S10 Blazer is only like $3500 most. The only way I see one going for more is if it has a ton of off road mods. It's like my Colt M4. It will never be worth anything because there's hundreds of thousands of them out there. However, the SP1 easily goes for way above its original worth.
That being said, I love mine and I will pass it down to my children if possible. Regardless of popular opinion, these things will legally be considered "antiques" in a handful of years and we'll be able to rock those tags if so desired.

It will be interesting to watch if the 90's-2000's Blazers perhaps become more appreciated as an affordable way to get a 4x4. I know when I was looking at possibly replacing mine, I got sticker shock at even the 10 y.o. <100k miles 4-Runners starting at $12k. This is why I've decided to keep mine around for several more years with the upgrades I've done; small suspension lift, 2" all aluminum radiator, HD front brakes, and done other investments such as the oil cooler lines, LIM gaskets, and transmission rebuild. It is just damn hard to find a replacement body-on-frame SUV anymore that is reasonable in price.
Perhaps in another 20 years, when internal combustion engines have been banned from the face of the earth, and there is a lively black market for petroleum products, our vehicles may become worth more than when they were sold new.
Hey, it could very well happen? I sure hope not.

I have to think that the S10 second gen. pick up trucks will become a classic before our S10 Blazers and Jimmys do. I am saying that because of the classic look and popularity of the S-10 pick up. I think they are being adopted by the customizers because of their clean look with a minimum amount of work.
