Default Should I buy it?

A friend of mine is moving and is looking to sell his 96 blazer. 4X4, 4 door, vortech. although, he thinks the solenoid is shot cause it won't kick into 4X4. but it could be the missing button on the console?
it is a canadian truck, anything I should look out for there? It has 122,000 miles, body is solid, with new tires, new tensioner and belt, newer alternator, needs brakes.
I am buying it just for transporation to work, which is a wopping 10 miles one way.
just this last weekend, he started having troubles with the rear tail-lights. only when the headlights are on... they blow a fuse, and the tail lights go out. the brake lights, and turn signals still work.
He's willing to sell it to me for $500. My question is, should I??
oh, and it's purple

TAKE IT. DO IT. YESSSSS.

ew purple..

4wd should be an easy fix (shhhh don't tell him), and the brake lights are probably just shorted out at the switch on the pedal...or at the light...(hypothesizing of course..)

did I mention you should do it?

That is a serious steal. He must like you alot! A solenoid is c\extremely cheap. A new starter and solenoid was gonna cost me about $150 and wiring is also cheap. Take the deal man. Purple does suck, but I've seen the same year of Blazer purple and it's not horrible. Could always be pink!

LOL Thanks for the responses. I am giving him the money this weekend, finally be able to stop driving the wife's minivan to work...
myl ast truck was a '94 Sonoma. same color actually. 2WD, had it lowered a bit. loved that truck.

I've been into VW's the past few years, just wrecked a '93 Corrado VR6. hence the need for cheap transportation. I figured this would be perfect, with winter right around the corner, and atleast it has space for the kids, and the weekly trip to home depot

So I'll be around for a while, at least as long as the truck lasts... giggity.
