Question should I buy a ZR2?

I have a stock 98 blazer 4 door with 260,000 km's on it. Have found a 2005 ZR2 with 80,000 km's. So do I do a body lift and new 31 x 10.5 tires on the 98 at minimal expense or sell it and buy the 2005 and go into debt for 5 yrs?
I only use the blazer for the winter months and have already replaced a lot of parts on the 98 plus its been undercoated regularily so the body is in good shape. I do like 4 doors too!

Well price is a big factor, at 260,000 klicks, how much life is left in that old girl?

The pro's to getting the ZR2: (the big ones)
* newer
* WAAaAAy less km's
* umm, newer.

How much is the ZR2 you've found? $$$$

Is the 98 a 4x4? Is the 98 paid off? If not, and you want a 4x4 and don't mind going into debt, get the ZR2 if its what you want.

Its a dollars and cents game....

Weigh the present worth of the vehicles

How much do you owe on your current Blazer?
How much will you be putting in it to get her "sexysmooth" the way you want?

How much will the Zr2 Cost?
How much will you spend on Mods?

Basically you can use some fancy equations but it dials down to how much is it worth now compared to later....

ie... say you

Owe 0 on the current blazer
Wanna spend 2k on it to sexymoothize it
So thats 2k for say 1 year....

The other blazer is a zr2 that has less mileage and could cost a little less in maintenance because of its lower mileage/kilometerage..... (do you say mileage is 80kms? or do you say Kilometerage?)

But say that it is 8k.... and you said 5 year loan...

So assuming the interest rate is 5% thats about 1847ish (assume 2k a year) a year on a NEWER blazer...
Now both of these are without maintainence because it should be almost equivalent costs....

Can you afford the extra 4 years of payments? Can you eat the loan? Will you make above min. payments? Can you get a decent % loan? What plans do you have for the zr2? Because if you lift it, then it will add more in the long run.......

SO option 1.
4dr will be cheaper in the long run, but its lifetime is shorter...

Option 2
zr2 has more miles left (assuming it was taken care of)
and has more characteristics desired (slightly higher to begin with)

I would see if you can swing the extra dough... and jump on it if you can.. otherwise just run what you got....

(enough of me pretending to be that suzie orzman or w.e her name is)

all good points...yes the 98 is a 4x4 and paid for....yes for 2 grand it would do all I ever need and still look like it means business. But the real thought to ponder is.....this is a chance to get a low 80,000 km zr2 made in 2005 the last year they where offered. So I should get it and preserve it for years to come. I only drive about 10,000 km/yr with the 98 so the 05 should last a long time.
