Smoking and rough idle when I put on defroster
I had no heat this past winter in my blazer, so I flushed our all the crappy dex-cool, flushed the heater core, and replaced the thermostat. I refilled with the green stuff that I've never had a problem with.
Everything runs perfect, and I have scorching hot heat now.
However, when I turn on my defroster, it starts idling rough and the engine starts smoking. I've found where the smoke is coming from...but I'm not even sure what it is. I've posted a picture.
Anyone have any idea what went wrong?

If you are talking about the thing the belt goes around, that is your A /C compressor, but I'm not sure why it would be smoking. Is it maybe seized up and the belt is slipping around it causing it to heat up? That would put strain on the engine.

No...it is still spinning.

the compressor must be on its way out, close to failing.

My compressor started smoking today and no cold air from A/C. Mine is still spinning also and it seems to be coming from the a/c clutch. Could the coolant be leaking from the front of the compressor and burning off causing the smoking?
