Spair on the roof. No basket for it. Do able?
I have a 99 4x4 blazer ls. It has the stock roofrack. Which. I pulled apart the rack peices to fit a spair tire between them. Just to see how it looks. I like it, but. The question is. Is it a bad idea? Its sitting on the roof. And th rack peices are holding it together. IM obviously not going to drive it around like that. Till i get two of those comealong straps. (wratchet straps) I was going to strap it in a X pattern over the top of the tire. and the wratchet peices will be actually PULLING the rack cross bars together. So they wouldnt go lose either.
Then Obviosuly i would take the stock spair tire out.
Opinions? Ideas?
I also have fog lights left over from my 96 lexus that I was wondering if i could use somehow by wireing them intot he low beams and mounting them on the grill.

As for the spare on top of the roof like you described I would suggest putting something underneath the tire to protect your roof from denting and scratches!! As for the lights I don't think it will be a problem to wire those into your low beams but I would actually suggest wiring them in on there own circuit, with a toggle switch!!
Good deal. As for putting something under it. There are already those "lines" in the roof. That are black and plastic. That stick up from the rest of the roof about maybe little more then 1/8th of an inch.
IF that isnt good enough. What would you recomend

I would suggest a simple piece of wood under the tire, it will spread the weight out evenly!! If you wanted to you can carpet the one side with a piece of junk carpet so that will be like a pad for the weight!!
