I bought a winch to pull the top off my Blazer. I'm trying to make it as quick and painless as possible. Now I'm running straps under the top and making a big loop in the rear and through the door windows in front. I'm having to lift the rear part of the top up, put blocks between the top and body so I can slip the straps thru. I looked for some strong enough hooks, to where I could just place them at the rear window seal and just lift, but the hooks that were big enough were not rated for the weight of the roof. I have a roof rack as well and the mounts seems very sturdy, but I'm not sure this is a good thing to do. Anybody else have a system set up?

I'll have to go out and take a picture, I have 2 modified camper jacks for lifting off the top. I'll get some pics up soon.
I used to have ropes hanging from the ceiling of my garage with 4 hooks suspended about 3" above the roof at the back and front. Then I just lifted the top with my back, attatched the hooks by hand and drove the truck out.

This is what I'm currently doing. I need to come up with some hooks that I can just attach and lift and eliminate the wood.

I would go to a hardware store and try and find hooks that would fit in the window grooves to be able to rig up a hook strap system to lift the roof off of it!!

Just gettwo padded double u-hook hook. Looks similar to a grappling hook cut in half.
